Superstition plays a significant role in Thai daily life, blending Buddhist, Hindu, and animist traditions.

Spirit Houses (ศาลพระภูมิ)

Nearly every Thai building has a spirit house (sǎan prá puum) — a miniature temple outside where the land spirits live.

• Daily offerings of food, drinks, flowers, and incense
• Must be positioned so the building's shadow never falls on it
• Moving or removing requires a ceremony

Lucky and Unlucky

• Tuesday is considered unlucky for haircuts
• Yellow on Monday brings good luck (the King's color)
• Number 9 (เก้า, gâo) is lucky — sounds like "moving forward"
• Owls are considered bad omens

Amulets (พระเครื่อง)

• Many Thais wear Buddhist amulets for protection and good fortune
• Some amulets are worth millions of baht
• Never wear them below the waist
