Morning Routines
- Many Thais wake early for temple visits or morning markets
- Monks walk through neighborhoods collecting alms (ตักบาตร, dtàk-bàat) around 6 AM
- Breakfast is often savory: rice porridge (โจ๊ก, jóok) or rice with dishes
Transportation
- Bangkok: BTS (Skytrain), MRT (subway), boats, tuk-tuks
- Provincial areas: songthaews (red trucks), motorbike taxis
- Always agree on price before getting in a tuk-tuk
Shopping
- 7-Eleven is everywhere (13,000+ locations!)
- Markets open early morning or late evening
- Bargaining is expected at markets, not in malls
The Royal Anthem
- Played at 8 AM and 6 PM in public places
- Everyone is expected to stand still until it ends
- Also played before movies in cinemas
